Hi, I'm Kendra
Bates...
I'm the founder of I Am Becoming and a certified life coach who helps Gen Z and Millennials navigate life's biggest decisions, transitions, and seasons of change.
If there’s one theme in my life, it’s this: I’ve had to pivot. A lot.
I grew up playing competitive soccer and thought my path was set. Then an ACL injury right before college forced me to rethink everything I thought my future would look like.
Since then, life has been a series of unexpected turns. I went to multiple colleges, explored different career paths, and for a while became what I jokingly call a "serial job hopper" while trying to figure out where I actually belonged.
If it looks like everyone else is ahead of you and you’re still figuring it out… I get it.

In My Own Words

I spent years working closely with youth and families in under-resourced communities, helping them build stronger relationships, manage emotions, and create healthier environments at home. Some of the kids I met years ago are now thriving young adults, and staying connected with them as they grow has been one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
Long before I officially became a coach, I was already doing what I love most. Helping people slow down, regain their confidence, and make better decisions about their lives.
I’m a Millennial myself, so I understand the pressure our generation and Gen Z feel to somehow have everything figured out while the world keeps changing the rules.
For a long time, I lt scared and unsure about my own next move too.
But eventually I realized something important. The risk of staying where I was had become greater than the risk of changing.
So I took the leap and committed fully to the work I felt called to do.
Now I help others do the same.
Which means....
If you’re questioning your purpose…
If you're struggling to find the inner confidence to take your next step…
If you’ve achieved things you’re proud of but still feel like something is missing…
You’re exactly who I work with.
Today, I work as a Transition and Decision Coach, which simply means I help people who feel in between chapters and keep circling the same decisions. Maybe you're questioning your career, unsure about your next move, or realizing the path you’re on doesn’t actually feel like yours.
